Public Health Resources

The California Dental Hygienists’ Association (CDHA) promotes oral health for the general public and is committed to increasing access to oral health care for underserved populations.

The Public Health Council of CDHA strives to answer the call of the 2000 Surgeon General’s report: Oral Health in America and the US Department of Health and Human Services National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health. The 2011 report by the Institute of Medicine, Improving Access to Oral Health Care for Vulnerable and Underserved Populations clearly includes references to the need for expansion of the role of the dental hygienist.

The Council serves as a resource to members and components for public health projects and activities. The Council will assist in developing a public health agenda for the organization and provides resources for members and the public.

Career Opportunities in Public Health: The members section of ADHA.org has a workplace resource that might be a starting place for those looking beyond private practice towards other practice settings. You can access this resource by logging in at www.adha.org on the upper right side Member Login and select Workplace Resources. Here you will find the pdf version of Career Opportunities in Public Health.
