Fall Scientific Symposium - 2021's Learning Objectives

This course was designed to provide dental professionals with the following learning objectives:

  • Understand the significance of proper oral posture with regard to airway development.
  • Describe the anatomy and function of the oral soft tissue complex and how tethered oral tissue effects craniofacial growth and development, and the oral motor complex.
  • Understand how oral motor dysfunction in early infancy impacts sleep and breathing.
  • Learn the necessary assessment tools to screen for pediatric sleep-disordered breathing, how to treat their signs, and when to refer out.
  • Describe the interconnected relationship between orofacial myofunctional symptoms and symptoms of sleep-disordered breathing.
