After this course, attendees will be able to:
  • describe the composition and function of the oral microbiome, including key bacterial species and their roles in maintaining oral health.
  • identify the impact and the physiological effects of xerostomia on oral health, including its relationship with the oral microbiome and the potential for increased risk of dental caries and periodontal disease.
  • identify the signs of dysbiosis in the oral microbiome and understand how it contributes to xerostomia and other oral health issues.
  • apply evidence-based practices for assessing and managing xerostomia, including the use of salivary substitutes, oral hygiene recommendations, and dietary modifications.

Carrie is a seasoned dental hygienist with more than 20 years of clinical experience dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing oral health through evidence-based care. Throughout her career, she has developed a special passion for helping patients suffering from xerostomia and oral discomfort, recognizing the profound impact dry mouth can have on overall health, quality of life, and daily function.

After two decades in clinical practice, Carrie transitioned into the business and educational side of dentistry, where she now combines her clinical expertise with a strong focus on professional education and patient-centered solutions. Through her work with OraBio, she is committed to advancing awareness and education surrounding xerostomia management and helping dental professionals implement effective, science-backed solutions for patients experiencing dry mouth and oral complications.
