Mary A. Fadhl, an exemplary Independent Dental Industry Representative, has supported the California Dental Hygienists' Association (CDHA) and component events for over three decades. Mary's legacy lives on through her son, Carl Burton, MBA, who continues to carry forward the mission of her illustrious company, Independent Dental Sales.

Mary's dedication to evidence-based education, rigorous research, and personal connections has inspired the establishment of the Mary Fadhl Research Travel Grant, administered by the CDHA Foundation. This grant is a testament to Mary's enduring vision and commitment to improving dental hygiene practices. This initiative encourages academic excellence and ensures that students from diverse geographical areas can showcase their research and contribute to advancing dental hygiene knowledge.

2024 Mary Fadhl Grant Application

Applications for the 2024 Mary Fadhl Grant are due April 1, 2024.

Submit the application and essay with your Student Poster Competition paperwork. 

The Foundation will announce grant recipients 30 days before the CDHA Spring Scientific Session on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Multiple grants of $500 will be awarded to CDHA Student Members annually. We offer one travel grant per poster submission.

Eligibility Requirements 

  • Students must have an accepted poster in the CDHA Poster Competition
  • Students attending a dental hygiene program over 100 miles from the poster session venue.
  • Recipients cannot be CDHA Foundation Directors, CDHA Officers, Trustees, employees, or relatives.
