Legislative Calendar

The California State Legislature has released its tentative legislative calendar for 2021. Important dates include the following:

January 11, 2021 – Legislature reconvenes
January 22, 2021 – Last day to submit bill requests to the Office of Legislative Counsel
February 19, 2021 – Last day for new legislation to be introduced
March 25, 2021 – Joint spring recess begins upon adjournment
April 5, 2021 – Legislature reconvenes from spring recess
June 1-4, 2021 – Joint floor session only
June 4, 2021 – Last day for each house to pass bills introduced in that house
June 7, 2021 – Assembly committees may resume
June 15, 2021 – Budget bill must be passed at midnight
July 16, 2021 – Joint summer recess begins
August 16, 2021 – Legislature reconvenes from summer recess
August 30- September 10, 2021 – Floor session only
September 3, 2021 – Last day to amend bills on the floor
September 10, 2021 – Last day for any bill to be passed. Interim recess begins upon adjournment
October 10, 2021 – Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills
